In the 1960s, the Society opened a Play Centre on the roof top of a block in the Lo Fu Ngam, today’s Lok Fu Estate, providing a place for around 400 young children to do homework and to play. In 1965, following the guidelines of the Social Welfare Department, two child care centres were opened by the name of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Day Nursery I and II in the Sau Mau Ping Estate. These centres filled the need of those parents who were out to work in the day time. As the population of the Estate had aged and the need declined, the Centres were renamed St. Vincent de Paul Nursery School and relocated to the current site in Kwun Tong in 1992 with the mission of “Serve the Community with Quality Child Care Services in God’s Love”.
